Hear Aphex Twin’s New EP ‘Cheetah’ Before Its Friday Release

Never one to do anything expected, Aphex Twin has dropped his new Cheetah EP a few days earlier than its 8th July release date.

The UK’s BBC Radio 6 played the record in full and have since popped the entire show up online so you can have a cheeky listen before it officially hits stores and streaming services on Friday.

The enigmatic British producer has been steadily releasing music since 2014’s Syro, his first album in 13 years. Last year he released Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt2 and then followed it up with a new cut MARCHROMT30A edit 2b 96.

Cheetah features seven tracks with predictably weird song titles like 2X202-ST5. One of the tracks CIRKLON3 (Колхозная mix) recieved the video treatment with Aphex Twin putting a 12 year-old skater in charge of directing his first visual in 17 years.

The record was teased last month with an excellent, ’70s-tinged advertisement declaring that EP “uses digital sound generation techniques combined with wave sequencing technology,” which is a very technical way of saying it just features music.
