After teasing fans with snippets of a new project earlier this week, singer-songwriter Beck has shared the first taste of his next and as-yet-untitled album with a dreamy new single called, well, Dreams.
Dreams, which is available to stream in full below, is Beck’s first release since his Grammy Award-winning (and Kanye-stirring) 2014 album Morning Phase. The song marks a change of pace from the reserved vibes of Morning Phase thanks to its danceable grooves, strong vocal hooks and pop sensibilities.
“Dreams started out as kind of a heavy garage rock thing and became much more of a dance or some other kinda hybrid,” Beck says. “I’m not sure what it is yet.”
Written by Beck, touring bandmate Greg Kurstin and musician/producer Andrew Wyatt, Dreams gives fans a hint at what the next Beck album will sound like, and it looks like it’s going to set itself apart from Morning Phase.
“I’ve been working on this album for a few years and looking forward to getting it out,” Beck says. “I think it’s probably the opposite of Morning Phase.”
