The build up to the release of Gorillaz new album Humanz has been almost drawn out almost unbearably over the past few months, with the hype surely hitting fever pitch last weekend with pop-up “spirit houses” appearing around the world giving punters a chance to hear the album in full.
Now the band have released another song ahead of the official album release this Friday, 28th April – in the form of a funky, slow-burning cut titled ‘The Apprentice.’
It’s the latest in a steady drip-feed of tracks from the album, with Damon Albarn’s virtual project firstly unveiling ‘Saturnz Barz’, ‘Andromeda’, ‘We Got The Power’ and ‘Ascension’ at the back end of March, before a fifth track ‘Let Me Out’ featuring Mavis Staples and Pusha T dropped earlier this month.
‘The Apprentice’ features another incredible roster of guest artists in the form of English singer-songwriter Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, US rapper Zebra Katz, and Nigerian born singer RAY BLK.
It’s also been revealed that Humanz will be narrated by Australian actor Ben Mendelsohn.
