Hear Matt & Alex’s Emotional & Inspiring Farewell To Triple J

UPDATE: Here’s the final song Matt and Alex played on triple j after signing off for good.

ORIGINAL STORY: This morning saw Matt Okine and Alex Dyson wrap up their time as hosts of triple j‘s Breakfast show, marking the end of an era, especially with the departure of Dyson following 10 years at the station.

It seems like an age ago that the boys announced they’d be leaving the broadcaster, and after a week of raves around the country Matt & Alex performed their very own Like A Version this morning with a heap of special guests.

Then, the final emotional farewell came, with Okine giving heartfelt thanks to all those who’d helped him in his three years at the station, and especially to Alex for “being one of his best friends in the world” and guiding him through it all.

Alex ‘Rat Dog’ Dyson then delivered one of the most inspiring speeches of all time, using the infamous tune rag as a metaphor for life.

“You could leave (your tune rag) at home, folded up neatly in the drawer, safe and protected from the world. But that’s not what tune rags are for,” he said.

“Life is like a tune rag… and we’re damn proud that you’ve let us be a part of your tune rag.”

The final words were equally emotional, “Live proud, rave hard, and always, and I mean always listen to triple j.”
