Canadian indie outfit Holy Fuck have announced that their first tour since 2011 will take place right here in Australia, kicking off Thursday, 24th April at The Zoo in Brisbane. The sideshows announcement follows last week’s news that Holy Fuck will play as part of Groovin The Moo 2014.
The band had originally intended to take a break following a steady schedule of touring from 2006 to 2011. Ever the productive ones, they filled that time with having babies, adopting pets, producing records, playing festivals and secret shows, as well as starting new musical projects.
The genesis of Holy Fuck lies in bizarre sound clashes of broken Casios and noise-making “stuff” operated by sweaty men following spur-of-the-moment energetic changes in lieu of setlists, which caught the attention of Brooklyn dance punks !!! (Chk Chk Chk) and Montreal’s Wolf Parade.
After touring with these formidable acts and more, the boys signed a deal with then-new XL offshoot, Young Turks, and went on to play a raft of prestigious festivals, including Coachella, Glastonbury, and Lollapalooza, as well as multiple international tours, and scored props from Lou Reed.
In addition to the band’s Groovin The Moo dates, which launch at Oakbank Racecourse on Friday, 25th April, Holy Fuck will play a series of shows in Brisbane (The Zoo), Melbourne (Northcote Social Club), Sydney (Goodgod Small Club), Perth (Rosemount Hotel), and Fremantle (The Odd Fellow).
UPDATE 6:46pm 10/03/14: Life is Noise have announced supports for Holy Fuck’s Perth and Fremantle shows, with Usurper of Modern Medicine and Sacred Flower Union opening the show at The Rosemount, and WAMI-nominated producer Naik and Antelope opening at The Odd Fellow.
