IDLES Announce New Album ‘Ultra Mono’ And Share New Single ‘Grounds’

British punks IDLES have announced their third album, Ultra Mono, will be released this September.

Recorded in Paris, the album was produced by Nick Launay and Adam Greenspan, with additional programming courtesy of hip-hop producer Kenny Beats. The album, which follows the band’s 2018 record Joy as an Act of Resistance, features contributions from Savages frontwoman Jehnny Beth along with Warren Ellis, David Yow and Jamie Cullum.

To coincide with the announcement, the band have shared a new single titled ‘Grounds’ with an accompanying video by Rob French. It’s the second single to be released from the album thus far, following lead single ‘Mr. Motivator’ back in May.

“We wanted to write a song that embodied self-belief, and gave us self-belief – a counter-punch to all the doubt we build up from all the noise we so easily let in,” explained frontman Joe Talbot regarding the song’s genesis. “We wanted to make the sound of our own hearts’ marching band, armed with a jack hammer and a smile. We wanted to make the sound of our engine starting. So we did. Thank you.”

Watch the video for ‘Grounds’ below. Ultra Mono will be released Friday, 25th September via Partisan Records.
