Triple j ‘Breakfast’ hosts Matt Okine and Alex Dyson think they’ve discovered a nasty Hollywood trend. They reckon no one listens to Jeff Goldblum when his movie characters predict the end of the human race, so they’ve dropped a perfectly cringey song and video in order to explain their concerns and, well, to ignore Jeff Goldblum.
Matt and Alex’s latest musical masterpiece (below) is titled No One Listens (To Jeff Goldblum), and it offers up examples of times when Goldblum’s film characters have been ignored, even in classics like Jurassic Park and the original Independence Day.
Rockin’ their flap-hats and the occasional speed dealer, Matt and Alex pair piano and acoustic guitar with programmed drums as they make the case for Goldblum’s God-like status.
“He knows the dangers of dinosaur genetics,” they sing, adding that Goldblum has an uncanny ability to tell that aliens “are not our bros”.
Goldblum, who recently touched down in Australia to promote his new film Independence Day: Resurgence, even makes an appearance in the clip with “a very important idea”, but Matt, Alex and Goldblum’s Independence Day: Resurgence co-star Liam Hemsworth have other plans for the video’s direction.
