The side project of Strokes’ frontman Julian Casablancas, Julian Casablancas + The Voidz, have been added to the lineups for both Falls Festival 2014/2015 and Southbound 2015.
One of the most influential frontmen of the last few decades, Casablancas will return with his new band, who have only this week dropped their new album, Tyranny. Listen to album cut Where No Eagles Fly, below. The group’s nods to New-York post-punk gives them a captivating and abrasive rock sound.
Casablancas has released material as a solo artist in the past, sharing his debut solo album Phrazes For The Young in 2009. The Strokes’ latest album, 2013’s Comedown Machine, was met with mixed reviews. Casablancas told NME earlier this month that The Strokes are “psyched” to start working on new music in 2015, and are “in a really cool place”.
Festival organisers have also announced that the Byron Bay Falls Festival event has joined Lorne in achieving sold-out status. Tickets to Marion Bay are currently available.
