Kacey Musgraves Bringing Out Gloria Gaynor To Duet ‘I Will Survive’ Is Extremely Good

Yee haw.

At a recent show at Radio City Music Hall in New York, Kacey Musgraves brought out Gloria goddamn Gaynor to perform Gaynor’s 1978 anthem ‘I Will Survive’. Musgraves has been whipping out her cover of the song while on tour for her 2018 album Golden Hour, and this time around got the disco queen herself to join, with the pair dueting on the iconic track.

Dear readers, I don’t want to be too hyperbolic here but watching this performance has literally brought colour to my cheeks, revitalised my crops, made the trees greener, caused birds to sing, the sun to shine… it’s just very good.

After they perform the track, Gaynor tells the crowd “I recorded this song in 1975, 40 years ago, and I can’t tell you how pleased I am that Kacey is carrying on the tradition, helping you all to survive.”

According to Consequence of Sound, Gaynor went on to say “I feel so honored that ‘I Will Survive’ carries as much meaning today as it did all those years ago.

“I feel equally blessed that an artist like Kacey sings my song on tour and that I could join her to sing in an iconic venue like Radio City Music Hall.”
