King Parrot Added To Soundwave 2014 Lineup

King Parrot are the latest band to be announced as part of the upcoming Soundwave 2014 festivities after a fan recommendation to promoter AJ Maddah.

Maddah has confirmed via Twitter that the Melbourne thrash quintet band will be performing on the local leg of the festival “at the very least”, and hopes to get the band on for more cities.

King Parrot have Twitter user Amanda Metalawyer to thank for the out-of-the-blue opportunity after she suggested that Maddah consider booking the band. Maddah replied, “If they want it, it’s theirs!”, King Parrot responded “we want it!!!”, Maddah locked them in, and that, as they say, is all she wrote.

King Parrot’s live performances are apparently as hard as they come. Music Feeds contributor Dean Forte caught the band opening for Norwegian black metal outfit Kvelertak in Melbourne last week, reporting tales of vocalist Matt Young screaming in crowd members’ faces atop a stagehands shoulders.

King Parrot will bring with them an all-important injection of Aussie flavour to the lineup. The heavy metal troupe dropped their debut album Bite Your Head Off back in October of last year, so they’ve understandably got their live show on lock. That said, the band have plenty of time to learn some new jams back to front come February 2014.

The Soundwave 2014 lineup is currently topped by the likes of Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold and features a stack of other heavy bands set to roll into town come February next year.
