The Last Song Chris Cornell Performed Live Was About Death

Following news of the sudden death of Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple Of The Dog frontman Chris Cornell, the setlist from his final show has been unearthed, and it includes an eerie discovery.

According to the setlist posted online by fans, Soundgarden closed out their show in Detroit on Wednesday night by performing the song ‘Slaves & Bulldozers’, which featured a refrain from the traditional gospel song ‘In My Time Of Dying’, which the band have performed live numerous times over the years. It features the following opening lines:

In my time of dying, I want nobody to mourn

All I want for you to do is take my body home

Well, well, well, so I can die easy [x2]

Jesus, going to make up

Jesus, going to make up my dying bed

Meet me, Jesus, meet me

Meet me in the middle of the air

If my wings should fail me, Lord

Please meet me with another pair

Cornell died at the age of 52, supposedly only hours after the concert at Detroit’s Fox Theater had finished.

The cause of his death is not yet known, but his publicist has called it “sudden and unexpected”, and the musician’s family are said to be in shock.

Tributes have been pouring in for Cornell from throughout the music and entertainment industries.
