Liam Gallagher Reveals His Favourite Australian Bands

Former Oasis member turned solo artist Liam Gallagher has revealed his favourite Australian artists, and no, Meg Mac isn’t one of them.

Currently down under for Falls Festival and a run of sideshows, Gallagher spoke to triple j about which Aussie acts have been capturing his attention, and he wasn’t short on praise.

“I’d say my favourite band from Australia is You Am I,” Gallagher said, before giving the group’s frontman a shout-out.

“I like that band, I like the geezer Tim Rogers. Yeah, he’s cool.

“They played with us — or we played with them — in Australia some time ago, and there’s a song called ‘Junk’ that makes me wanna punch things, so I like that band.”

Turning his thoughts to newer Aussie bands, LG praised homegrown indie rockers DMA’s and Holy Holy, saying:

“The DMA’s, they’re a new band — well, they might be an old band out here — they played in England, so we had a couple of beers with them out there.

“There’s a band called Holy Holy that my girlfriend used to do some press for in England, so I went to one of their gigs and they were nice lads.”
