Listen: Eddie Vedder’s ‘Ukulele Songs’ Stream

When Eddie Vedder picked up the ukulele for songs for the Into The Wild soundtrack, he balanced it very nicely with some more straightforward rock/singer-songwriter offerings. His insistence on the uke has continued, however, with his new album Ukulele Songs, which can now be heard via internet stream via NPR.

Ukulele Songs features a number of interesting covers, including the Everly BrothersSleepless Nights (a duet with Glen Hansard of The Swell Season) and Dream A Little Dream. The album opens with a ukulele-based song from Pearl Jam‘s Riot Act album, Can’t Keep. The LP also features the song Tonight You Belong To Me, a duet with Cat Power, another cover, this time of a popular standard made famous back in the twenties.
