Listen: Green Day Debut First Single Off ¡Dos! ‘Stray Heart’

Now with Uno! safely released, Green Day prepare to do it all again with ¡Dos!, part 2 of the 3-part release. Today, fans have been treated with the first sample off the album, Stray Heart.

Debuted by Zane Lowe on BBC 1, the track was originally meant to be revealed through an Idiot Club exclusive stream, but you snooze you lose. The trio weren’t lying when they hinted towards a more ‘garage rock’ vibe with part 2, and whilst the track demonstrates a massive departure from their classics, it still serves its own purpose.

If you choose to focus just on the tune at hand, rather than comparing it to every other Green Day song, you’ll find yourself listening to a dangerously catchy ditty with some melodies that are going to get stuck in your head until you listen to it again. It’s a bass-heavy, pulsating drummed ode to love lost. Someone’s hurt you Billie Joe, that much is clear.

The track was aired right after an interview with the face of the album, and bassist, Mike Dirnt, who opened up about the recent drama surrounding their embattled frontman. You can check all that out here, but otherwise, happy listening…
