Listen: Red Hot Chili Peppers New Single + B-Side

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have released the latest instalment in their ongoing series of singles and B-sides that is set to stretch into 2013. The two previously unreleased songs go by the names of Never is a Long Time and Love of Your Life and now exist alongside the first two 7 inches Strange Man / Long Progression and Magpies / Victorian Machinery.

The single Never is a Long Time is a surprising tune by RHCP due to its brevity, coming in at under three minutes, which is relatively short for a Peppers’ track. Meanwhile, B-side Love of Your Life is more indicative of the band’s general direction ever since 2002’s By the Way, and highlights Flea’s ability to slap a little bass towards the end of the track.

The next single/B-Side is due out November 6, and as each vinyl record draws closer so too does the Red Hot Chili Peppers impending date with Big Day Out 2013. RHCP will be headlining and playing exclusively for the BDO. Here’s hoping they come back soon for those of us who missed out on tickets.
