Listen: Tim Rogers New Single ‘Go Out On, Get Back Home’ + Tour Dates

The perfect remedy for the 3:30 blues on Hump Day is here, the latest offering from once You Am I frontman Tim Rogers. Go Out On, Get Back Home is to be featured off Rogers’ sophomore solo release Rogers Sings Rogerstein, Out August 24.

Just as you’d expect from one of Australia’s most iconic musicians, the track is an absolute poetic masterpiece, written as a collaboration between Rogers and Ohio born Shel Rogerstein. As the story goes, the two crossed paths while on the train in the south of France. Their love for “Tango, film, cheese, rock’n’roll, baseball and family” fused the friendship and prompted the two to start making music together.

The album, produced by Shane O’Mara, will be the first time we’ve heard from Rogers as a solo act since 2007’s The Luxury of Hysteria. Rogers and O’Mara worked together previously to score the soundtrack to Aussie-made film Wish You Were Here; the magic it seems was carried from that project and into this one. Furthermore, the album features string arrangements by Melanie Robinson, who also worked with the team on The Luxury of Hysteria.

Rogers commented on the release saying, “I’m lucky enough to play in a rock’n’roll band with not only my best friends, but men I admire, that have great taste in art, and therefore I feel like the history and future of our project is a collaboration, pure and complicated. The past 4 years working more in theatre and film has only exacerbated my wish to work with other folks, to write music to their visuals or dialogue, their vision. I figure it’s a cost effective way to learn.”

Rogers will also be hitting the road in support of the release, taking his unique storytelling abilities all over the country for a huge run of shows. Dates are below for you as well as the single Go Out On, Get Back Home, embedded for your pleasure.
