Listen To Hiatus Kaiyote’s New Song, ‘Chivalry Is Not Dead’

We’re only weeks away from the release of Hiatus Kaiyote‘s first album in six years, and today they’ve delivered another taste of it with new single ‘Chivalry Is Not Dead’.

The release of ‘Chivalry Is Not Dead’ comes after the first two singles we’ve heard from the band’s new album Mood Valiant so far, ‘Red Room’ and ‘Get Sun (feat. Arthur Verocai)’.

As far as the song goes, its lyrical content is pretty surprising – it’s very explicit about the more unusual mating rituals of other animals, like leopard slugs and seahorses.

“After we did Choose Your Weapon, we had to make radio edits of our songs, and all of our shit is like 6 or 7 minutes long,” Nai Palm explained in a press statement.

“So ‘Chivalry’ was me fucking with the ‘hit record’ formula. I’m gonna write a song that’s 3:40 long, and it’s about sex, but I’m gonna make it fucking weird. Examples from the natural world that are fucking with the status quo.”

Mood Valiant is due out Friday, 25th June. Shortly after the album’s release, the band will be embarking on a nationwide tour while also taking on Sydney’s VIVID Live festival with a performance at Astral People’s 10th Birthday.
