Lurch & Chief Announce National EP Launch Tour

Melbourne indie-rock band Lurch & Chief are on the cusp of releasing a new EP and in celebration have announced they will be heading out on the road soon for an all-encompassing national tour.

The band have just released their new single Fading Out, which premiered here on Music Feeds, and will now spruik it on a 15-date tour of the country. The tour follows a national support slot for fellow Aussie rockers Kingswood.

Fading Out is taken from the band’s forthcoming EP Breathe which will be released on 27th March via Mushroom Group’s Illusive label. Lurch & Chief’s Hayden Somerville and Lilibeth Hall told Music Feeds that the EP was recorded over two weeks in isolation in Victoria’s Grampians.

“We stayed together in a little shack up there where we could make as much noise as we wanted,” said Somerville. “It was a beautiful place, the environment really helped and not having any distractions. It made us all a lot tighter and better musicians,” added Hall.

It’s been more than a year since they released their last EP Wiped Out and the band say they’ve progressed artistically. “We’re growing a lot as a band and our new music is really a step in the right direction so hopefully people see it as that,” Hall said. While they didn’t give too much away about what to expect from the EP they noted that Fading Out is the most different to all the other tracks on the EP.

Lurch & Chief’s national tour is set to kick off on Friday, 8th May in Geelong and wrap up in Perth almost a month later on Sunday, 7th June. Stay tuned for the full Lurch & Chief interview up soon on Music Feeds.
