Mac DeMarco Has Announced An Australian Tour For Early Next Year

Well, well, well. Looks like our predictions were spot-on. Mac DeMarco, reigning king of blissed out guitar-pop, has announced he’ll be bringing the party to Australian shores next summer for a full tour.

Mac and his band will be touring the country in January 2020 – and he’s bringing some very special guests along to open the shows up. West Australian rockers Pond will perform on all dates, and Japan punk outfit Chai will join on all east coast dates. In Perth, raging punks Cold Meat will be handling opening duties.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Mac’s fourth studio album, Here Comes the Cowboy, which was released back in May on his eponymous Mac’s Record Label. Heralded by Q Magazine as his “masterpiece”, it’s a more reflective and introspective album from the Canadian artist than we’re used to, who’s perhaps best known for his energetic on-stage persona.

Check out tour dates below. Tickets are on sale at 11am this Thursday, 1st August. You can sign up for pre-sale access by signing up to the Penny Drop newsletter.
