Mac Miller (real name Malcolm James McCormick) has cancelled all of his upcoming Australian tour dates, and is postponing his trip due to exhaustion. The Pittsburg rapper was set to perform at Perth’s Origin NYE festival before three headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Posting to Twitter, Miller says, “I have to cancel New Zealand and Australia. I am so sorry to all my fans out there. My voice is gone. My body is exhausted, and I can not guarantee you guys an 100 percent performance. I don’t want to give you anything less than my best.
“I need to rest and get myself healthy. I am not cancelling, but postponing, you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be back soon.
“I haven’t cancelled anything in 5 years, but I found out I was human. Fuck. I thought I was a super hero…I’m not giving up on that theory.”
In a statement posted to Facebook, Origin NYE says Miller has spent three months on the road, and has recently played 70 shows over 90 days, so it’s no wonder he’s too drained to make the lengthy trip down under.
“We’ve tried to do everything in our power to help the artist honour his commitments however there is nothing we can do,” Origin NYE says. “We thank you for your understanding.”
Miller’s GO:OD AM tour was set to hit Australia’s East Coast in January, but all dates are now cancelled and ticket-holders are entitled to refunds. The Aussie leg of the GO:OD AM tour would have been Miller’s first time in the country since the last Big Day Out tour.
