Marilyn Manson Announces New Drummer, Replacing Gil Sharone

It was revealed back in March that Marilyn Manson‘s drummer Gil Sharone would be leaving the band after five years in the group. The news was shared via Sharone’s Facebook page, with him saying that after “five amazing years playing the drums for Marilyn Manson, [he’s] decided to leave the band”.

The reasons he cited for leaving were to enable him to “pursue other current and future projects”.

Aside from being part of the touring band, Sharone lent his hand playing drums on the last two Manson records: 2015’s The Pale Emperor and 2017’s Heaven Upside Down.

Since his departure, there’s been speculation as to who would be replacing him, but Manson has now revealed that his replacement will be Brandon Pertzborn, drummer for the band Ho99o9.

As mentioned by Consequence of Sound, the news was unofficially broken a few weeks back with Billy Rymer of The Dillinger Escape Plan saying that he would be filling in for Pertzborn in Ho99o9 while  he “takes on duties with Marilyn Manson.”

Manson and Pertzborn both confirmed the news via Instagram, both artists posting the same photo of the two of them with Manson posting the caption “I went to see a film with Shayne and my drummer Brandon” and Pertzborn posting “Hot off the press! North America, see you this summer with Marilyn Manson.”

Pertzborn will debut as part of Manson’s band on the Twins of Evil: Hell Never Dies Tour with co-headliner Rob Zombie in Baltimore, Maryland on July 9th.
