Mark Ronson “Angry” At Aussie Promoter Over “Fake Gig”

Splendour In The Grass headliner Mark Ronson says he’s “angry” after an Australian concert promoter reportedly falsely advertised that he would be performing a DJ set in Perth last night, Saturday, 25th July.

Taking to Twitter today, Ronson accused the unnamed Australian promoters of selling tickets to a DJ set at Matisse Beach Club with the title, “Winter Funk Fest Feat. Mark Ronson – DJ Set.”

“A promoter falsely advertised I’m djing a club 2nite. COMPLETE BS. Truly sorry if any 1 bought tix,” Ronson tweeted.

In a statement, Matisse Beach Club later apologised, noted that ticket holders will receive refunds, but placed the blame on the event’s booking agent and promoter.

“Matisse are angered by the position our customers and ourselves have been put in by the third party booking agent and promoter who sold us this appearance,” Matisse Beach Club said.

“We can assure you that as soon as we became aware of the situation we immediately contacted all ticket holders prior to the event via email.

“We are fully investigating the matter and will take appropriate action based on our findings. For this reason we are unable to comment further.”

Matisse Beach Club originally said it was informed by Mark Ronson’s promoter that he was unable to make it to the Winter Funk Fest due to “unforeseen logistical issues getting back to Perth from Byron Bay”.

Ronson has since offered to give Perth fans who had purchased tickets for the “Winter Funk Fest” free tickets to his next legitimate Perth show, but made it clear that he wants those fans to receive refunds.

“FOR THIS FAKE GIG IN PERTH LAST NIGHT, U SHOULD ALL DEFINITELY GET UR MONEY BACK. HATE 2 C MY PEOPLE GET RIPPED OFF,” he said. “FAKE GIG SH** MAKES ME ANGRY.”

Mark Ronson and his crew of collaborators performed at Splendour In The Grass on Friday night, after performing a Splendour sideshow in Perth on Wednesday, 22nd July. He is still set to perform sideshows at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion and Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena later this week.
