Maximo Park Announce Australian Tour Dates – Fall Festival Sideshows

To coincide with their previously confirmed appearances at both Falls and Southbound Festivals, UK’s Maximo Park have announced headlining shows in both Sydney and Melbourne.

Their trip Down Under will be in support of the band’s most recent (and all-up fourth) studio album The National Health. The dynamic 5-piece rock outfit used the release as a platform to discuss topics as vast and vivid as recent socio-economic turmoil in the area, to love songs, some of which are the most passionate of the kind that we’ve ever heard from the band.

The album saw Maximo Park team up with production powerhouse Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Patti Smith) which explains the hard driven rock ‘n’ roll sonic soundscapes explored in the release.

Speaking of The National Health, frontman Paul Smith commented, “The nation is out of control and the record is about taking back control, and being a force for change in your own life. It can’t speak for everybody, but it has its eyes and ears all around us…that’s always been a Maximo Park thing: look at yourself. See how you relate to yourself and hopefully someone else will have something in common with it. Our songs are built on empathy. I would hope it’s as vital a music as people would want to hear.”

Joining the band for their headlining shows will be Glass Towers, whose eclectic selection of influences has resulted in music that pleases all sorts of crowds. Their 2011 debut EP has scored the band a dedicated following throughout the land, as well as many shows and festival spots.
