Canadian indie powerhouse Metric will be arriving in Australia this week for a run of shows but Perth will no longer be hosting one of them, with the band today announcing their tour date scheduled for Saturday, 7th December at Metro City has been cancelled.
According to a statement from the tour’s promoters Live Nation, Metric’s show in Manila on 5th December will take precedence over Perth after “the logistical challenges faced in delivering the band and their production into Australia from the Philippines was underestimated”. The Perth date was sacrificed “in order to maintain the remaining Manila, Australian and New Zealand tour itinerary”.
Ticketholders for the cancelled Perth date have a number of refund options available. Physical tickets will be refunded at point of purchase, and online purchases will be refunded directly to the card used for the purchase. Live Nation state that all remaining Australian shows will take place as scheduled.
We recently caught up with Metric’s Emily Haines to chat about the upcoming tour, and she filled us in on the band’s love for Australia, explaining how triple j was essential in giving them their big break. Clearly this will come as a disappointment to the band and fans alike.

“Ahead of indie electronica Canadians METRIC beginning their Australian tour this week, it has become necessary to make a change to the tour itinerary.
In formulating Metric’s overall tour itinerary, the logistical challenges faced in delivering the band and their production into Australia from the Philippines was underestimated.
“It has therefore become necessary to cancel the Perth show, scheduled for Metro City on Saturday December 7, in order to maintain the remaining Manila, Australian and New Zealand tour itinerary.
Perth ticketholders may obtain a full refund from the point of purchase or if tickets were purchased online, the refund will be automatically processed directly back to the card used for purchase. Please allow up to ten business days for the refund to reflect in your account.
“Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane shows are unaffected and will go ahead as scheduled.
“Special guests Glass Towers will open all shows.
“Live Nation apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience caused by this itinerary change.
