Proving that they’re only planning on getting weirder, Brooklyn psychedelic duo MGMT have dropped their wickedly futuristic video for new single Cool Song No. 2, starring none other than The Wire actor Michael K Williams.
The clip sees MKW (aka Omar aka Boardwalk Empire‘s Chalky White) playing a crim who, um, turns trees into drugs in this tripped out 4-minute spectacular. The track is taken from Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser‘s third full-length studio effort, the creatively titled MGMT.
VanWyngarden told NME the outfit feel much more comfortable with the release of their latest offering, saying, “We’re feeling a little bit more at ease and ready to take whatever comes our way. First and foremost we feel like we’ve made a really good album that reflects who we are right now, which is a little bit less distraught, nervous and paranoid than we were three years ago. For lots of different reasons, 2010 was a wild ride for us.”
MGMT, the follow-up to 2010’s Congratulations, is out now.
