On Saturday night former Smiths frontman Morrissey collapsed on stage after performing his opening number.
Beginning his show at the Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon with “Good evening … probably”, Morrissey launched into This Charming Man. According to witnesses he appeared to be “straining” to perform the song and, as he finished, fell to his knees clutching his shoulder. Two band members carried him off stage and he was taken to hospital.
A spokeswoman for the hospital said: “Morrissey became unwell, and he was admitted overnight as a precautionary measure. He’s been seen by the medical team, much improved and now discharged home.”
