Experimental pop legend and music pioneer Scott Walker has sadly passed away, aged 76.
Walker became huge in the 60’s with his band The Walker Brothers, which also included Gary Walker and John Maus. The band was massively successful, spawning hits like ‘Make It Easy On Yourself’ and ‘The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore’.
Following the band’s break up in the late 60’s, Walker embarked on a solo endeavour which, eventually, led him down an incredibly avant-garde direction which saw him achieve legendary status. His latest work was a score for the Natalie Portman-starring 2018 film Vox Lux, which featured a soundtrack penned by Sia.
His death, the cause of which is yet to be revealed, was confirmed by Walker’s record label, 4AD.

Many musicians have paid tribute to Walker. You can see those below.
So very sad to hear that Scott Walker has passed away, he was a huge influence on Radiohead and myself, showing me how i could use my voice and words. Met him once at Meltdown, such a kind gentle outsider. He will be very missed. https://t.co/v33Ey91hbn

It’s sad to hear of the passing of Scott Walker. A true, lifelong artist – his last 3 records were heavily influential on us and our perspective – Integrity, depth, and an insistence on diving into the unknown. Love to his family and friends.

Wow. Goodbye Scott Walker, the biggest influence on David Bowie. A maverick and uncompromising artist. Loved by @MarcAlmond and myself. One of the peculiar greats!
