Music World Mourns The Death Of Scott Weiland

Written by Nastassia Baroni on December 4, 2015

Tributes have flown in for former Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland who, at the age of just 48, has died.

While the circumstances surrounding his death have yet to be made clear, a statement on his official Facebook page says the musician “passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts”.

News of Weiland’s death first broke via Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addition, who took to Twitter writing: “Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight.”

While that tweet has now been removed, Navaro has since returned to Twitter to implore fans to “Send your thoughts toward the family”. Many other musicians and music industry figures have followed suit, sending messages of condolences and heartfelt tributes to the late rock hero.

“RIP Scott Weiland,” was the simple message from Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner. “Extremely saddened to have read Scott Weiland passed. Such a gifted performer. My thoughts are with your loved ones, friends & fans,” wrote Aerosmith’s Joe Perry.

“Very sorry to hear about Scott Weiland. He was a captivating frontman who had a gift for writing great melodies. RIP,” said Myles Kennedy.

“Rock and Roll lost a soul tonight…#rip #scottweiland #yourmusicmovedme,” tweeted Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless. “Universe, please take care of him,” added Ryan Adams.
