Musicians Pay Tribute To Peaches Geldof

Across the music industry today, tributes have flooded in to the late Peaches Geldof, as news spread of her “unexplained and sudden” death. Thomas Cohen, her husband of 19 months, led the tributes to his “beloved” late wife, saying that he and their two sons “shall love her forever”.

The musician who married Geldof in September 2012, said in a statement: “My beloved wife Peaches was adored by myself and her two sons Astala and Phaedra and I shall bring them up with their mother in their hearts every day. We shall love her forever. Thomas, Astala and Phaedra Geldof-Cohen.”

Other musicians have also payed their respects to the 25-year-old TV presenter, writer, fashion model and mother. The singer Ellie Goulding tweeted, “I don’t believe it”, adding, “Even if you think you’ve got it all figured out, some things still can’t be explained or understood. Two beautiful children. RIP Peaches”.

Lily Allen and Boy George also tweeted their condolences. “My thoughts are with the Geldof’s at this awful time,” Allen wrote today. “I hope they get to grieve in peace. Peaches, rest in peace gorgeous girl.” While George expressed his disbelief, “Poor sweet Peaches Geldof. We spoke only a month ago and she looked like an angel,” he wrote. “This is truly sad. Poor Bob! R.I.P”

Duran Duran leading man Simon Le Bon also threw his support behind the grieving family, writing, “How sad to hear about Peaches. Lovely, wild girl that she was. To Tom & the boys, to Bob & family, our deepest sympathy & support.”

Meanwhile, Kelly Osbourne tweeted, “Words seem inadequate 2 express the sadness I feel about @peaches_g death,” adding her support to Peaches’ sister Pixie at this devastating time. She later followed up by posting a link to a poem of remembrance, The Dash by Linda Ellis, dedicated to her childhood friend.

“I want to share with you a poem that helps me put the grieving of a loved lost diamond (we are all diamonds in the ruff) into prospective! I hope it helps anyone else who is going through the same thing,” wrote Osbourne. Lorde also sent her support, tweeting, “you were a sparkling, lovely person who showed me such kindness. rest easy, peaches.”

As news of her death spread, hundreds of people have left tributes on Geldof’s Instagram page, where just 24 hours ago she posted a childhood picture of her being cradled by her late mother, Paula Yates. “Incredibly sad to hear you’ve passed,” wrote one fan. “Hope you & your mom are together again.”

Bob Geldof released a statement shortly after news broke of his daughter’s death, saying that his family is “beyond pain”. “She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us,” he said. “How is this possible that we will not see her again?”

Details surrounding Peaches Geldof’s death still remain unclear.
