New Drones Album In 2011?

It seems the long wait for a new Drones album may soon be over, with drummer Mike Noga hinting that the band’s follow-up to the remarkable Havilah may soon be forthcoming.

As Mess and Noise notes, it has been a long three years since Havilah. In the middle of a European tour supporting Band of Horses in support of his solo album The Balladeer Hunter, Noga expressed that he might soon enter the studio with his Drones bandmates, including Gareth Liddiard who is about to head out across Australia in support of his acclaimed ‘folk’ solo album Strange Tourist.

Noga said, “We’re all really busy, [but] I think mid-year we’ll get back in the studio and start recording again. It’d be nice to get something out this year … It’s just a shame, if we don’t get it out by November this year, it’ll come out in March. It’s been a couple years, coming up to three, since we’ve done a record, so we should probably do another soon before everyone forgets.”
