Nickelback Respond The Black Keys Slagging

Yesterday we re-posted about blues-rocker duo The Black Keys’ comments about Nickelback in their recent Rolling Stone cover story, claiming that they’ve destroyed rock and roll. Drummer Patrick Carney, who provided a breath of fresh-air into 2011 with their impeccable album El Camino, said in the interview that “Rock and roll is dying because people became okay with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world.”

Carney continued by saying “So they became okay with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be shit – therefore you should never try to be the biggest rock band in the world. Fuck that!”

Nickelback responded to the comments, in quite a positive manner, posting on Twitter:

@Nickelback: Thanks to the drummer in the Black Keys calling us the Biggest Band in the World in Rolling Stone. Hehe.

The Black Keys weren’t the only ones serving it up to Nickelback, after a web application was released which eliminates all Nickelback related activity on the internet. A petition was also signed by 75,000 fans to try and prevent them from playing a half time show at the Detroit Lions thanksgiving game. The band have been really good to take most of it all with a grain of salt after appearing in a Funny or Die clip parodying themselves.
