Northlane Are Releasing A Remix EP Titled ‘5G’ This Friday

Aussie metalcore outfit Northlane have announced they’ll release a remix EP titled 5G this Friday, 26th Feburary via UNFD.

The five-track EP will draw largely on tracks from the band’s latest studio album, 2019’s Alien, along with a reworked version of Node cut ‘Ohm’. The band are keeping the artists they’ve worked with on these remixes a secret until the day arrives – but it’s sounding like they’ve got some interesting names onboard.

“We wanted to curate a remix record for quite some time. The idea really got some legs on our last European tour, and with some idle time on our hands the back end of 2020 was the perfect time to get this project fully underway,” commented the band’s Josh Smith in a statement.

“We’ve handpicked some of our favourite artists to work with outside of the metal genre to take our songs and make them their own.”

Despite the pandemic, Northlane have managed to keep themselves pretty busy over the last year. For one thing, 2020 saw them release Negative Energy, a documentary that captured the band’s journey creating Alien and embarking on a subsequent world tour, and the tumultuous period that led to that point.

Last year also saw the band livestream a concert film, with footage of their sold-out hometown show at the Roundhouse in Sydney during 2019’s Alien tour. In August, they released a recording of the set as a live album.
