Parcels Announce New Album ‘Day/Night’ And Share New Single

Parcels have announced their second album Day/Night will arrive in November.

The ambitious 19-track record consists of two distinct parts (Day and Night) and was recorded and produced by the band themselves at La Frette Studios in Paris, mixed by James Ford and with string arrangements by Owen Pallett.

After three months in the rehearsal room going back to basics, Parcels began sifting through a trove of 150 demos, getting it down to 40 songs before deciding on the tracklist that would form the record based on “what was right for the music.”

“You need to put the energy into the music itself,” the quintet explain. “It’s not about individuals, it’s about the sum of our parts.”

To coincide with the announcement the band have shared new single ‘Somethinggreater’, a cinematic, late-night crooner underpinned by a groove-heavy sonic backdrop that was the first song the band recorded at La Frette. It’s the third single to be lifted from the forthcoming record, following on from ‘Free’ and ‘Comingback’.

Day/Night follows a big few years for the Australian-born, now Berlin-based band that includes a debut single produced by none other than Daft Punk, shows with the likes of Phoenix and Air and an acclaimed debut album, 2018’s eponymous Parcels. Last year they released Live Vol. 1, a collection of songs recorded live at Hansa Studios in Berlin.
