Peach PRC Gives The Clergy The Finger On New Single ‘God Is A Freak’

After a breakout year in 2021, Peach PRC has released her first single of the new year, ‘God Is A Freak’.

With lines like, “I’m just confused with the work that he’s doing,” “why’s he watching me getting railed on the couch?” and “why would I spend my eternity with god when he’s a freak?” Peach PRC makes it clear she doesn’t think too highly of the song’s titular subject.

The song developed out of a TikTok video series in which Peach PRC interrogates the intentions behind some of the Christian god’s supposed actions.

“I found it frustrating when I went to a Christian college and sat through testimonials about how the youth leader’s mum prayed for a certain type of carpet for her new house and God rewarded her with it, meanwhile there are children impoverished globally and ‘God’ doesn’t seem to bother,” she said.

‘God Is A Freak’ is also a rebuttal against the imposition of what Peach PRC calls “purity culture.” “The first time I was slut shamed was at 12 years old inside a church during youth group for the clothes I was wearing,” said Peach PRC.

“This song is for everyone who has felt shamed, dirty, impure, wrong, unloved and unworthy because of beliefs upheld by the church. Whether you are a believer in God or not, you are worthy of feeling liberation.”

‘God Is A Freak’ follows the singles ‘Josh’, ‘Symptomatic’ and ‘Heavy’. Listen below.
