Pendulum Shut Down Reunion Rumours After Announcing New Aussie Show

Pendulum and Knife Party frontman Rob Swire has ruled out the possibly of the three original members of Pendulum reuniting in the long term.

Earlier this week, Perth’s Origin NYE confirmed that all three OG members of Pendulum — Swire, Gareth McGrillen, and Paul ‘El Hornet’ Harding — will be performing an exclusive DJ set at the New Year’s festival, but Swire has since ruled out any further reunions in the near future, despite the inevitable speculation about new music from the group.

“FYI you can ignore all the ‘Pendulum reuniting’ bullshit tweets,” Swire says on Twitter. “It’s a one-off DJ set, because we happened to be in Perth.”

Following a mind-blowing set at Ultra Music Festival this year, the announcement of a second performance in 12 months (and the first in Australia in years) left many fans hoping that Pendulum were back for real. But, alas, they’re not.

This latest statement from Swire reaffirms comments he made in a Reddit AMA in 2014, where he revealed that he had “no real desire to make drum’n’bass anymore” and had “lost his heart” for Pendulum as a project.

That said, the three original Pendulum members will perform at Origin NYE on Saturday, 31st December in Perth.
