Phil Anselmo Teases Secret Project With “Guys From Across The Equator”

Pantera vocalist Phil Anselmo has let slip he is working on “a secret death metal project” with some unnamed “secret other guys from across the equator”.

Anselmo dropped news during a Q&A session at the Spooky Empire horror convention in Florida, but stopped short of revealing exactly who his mysterious Southern Hemisphere bandmates are. “It’s cute, it really is,” he added.

At this point we should mention that Anselmo has recently been working closely with Australia’s own thrash metal royalty King Parrot (even sporting their T-shirt in the image above), having produced their latest record Dead Set at his Nodferatu’s Lair studio in New Orleans.

He even starred in the video for the album’s title track, and according to King Parrot’s vocalist Matt Young, he was super into it. “We couldn t believe it! He was like, ‘when are we fucking shooting this?’ And we weren’t gonna argue with him,” he told Music Feeds.

Anselmo also revealed he is writing new material for his newly reactivated Superjoint Ritual project, as well as his solo band Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals. So, yeah, he’s a pretty busy guy.

No other details about the new “secret” project have been revealed. Watch the interview below, with mention of the project starting at around 6 minutes in.
