“Pissweak” Sevendust Wanted More Money From Soundwave

UPDATE: The third Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement has finally dropped — full details here!

AJ Maddah has vented his frustration over US heavy metal act Sevendust‘s sudden withdrawal from the Soundwave 2014 lineup this morning, telling one Twitter follower the dispute was over money and labelling the band “pissweak”.

“They contacted us yesterday asking for more money again and we had to draw the line somewhere,” explained Maddah when asked the reason for the band’s cancellation. “They confirmed and then yesterday said you either give us a lot more money or we’ll cancel.”

The promoter didn’t hold back, noting that this was the third time the band have cancelled an Australian tour. He’s right – back in July 2011 they cancelled their support slot for an Avenged Sevenfold tour and also cancelled an Australian tour with Creed back in 2002.

Maddah then effectively severed all ties with the band tweeting, “Honestly, I can’t be bothered to work with them again. As they say, you don’t negotiate w terrorists.” Which probably means we won’t see Sevendust appear on any Maddah-promoted tour bills in the near future.

This morning Sevendust announced the news they won’t be appearing at Soundwave 2014 via their Facebook page. “Due to issues out of our control, we regrettably must pull out of Soundwave 2014. We apologize to our Australian fans and hope to find a way in the near future to make the trip,” wrote the band.
