Pixies Finally Back In The Recording Studio?

Influential alternative rock pioneers Pixies might finally be back in the studio recording after Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell let out a hasty tweet last night. After reforming in 2004 and touring the world, even visiting Australia a few times, it’s been on their cards for a while now.

Slicing Up Eyeballs reports that Farrell had replied to a tweet from @leCultVult, who wrote, “@perryfarrell back in the day the cool kids at my high school it was all about Jane’s Addiction and the Pixies”, to which Farrell replies “Still is Pixies r recording”. Since then fans have been pressing him for more info, but he has yet to reveal anything else.

It’s been two decades since the release of their last album Trompe Le Monde (older than some of their fans), and while it seems drummer David Lovering and guitarist Joey Santiago would be keen, the album has only ever been an up-in-the-air idea, and seemingly comes down to whether bassist Kim Deal and band leader Black Francis can work out their lingering tensions that made them break up in the first place.

Pixies have now wrapped up their touring, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in terms of new material.
