Pixies Premiere Two New Songs Live At LA Gig

Looks like alternative legends and Kurt Cobain‘s most beloved band The Pixies are well and truly back, debuting two previously unheard songs during a secret show in Los Angeles. The band got fans salivating last week after announcing the release of their first collection of new music since 1991.

You can watch fan-shot footage of the new songs below. It includes performances of a heavy, bluesy number titled Blue Eyed Hexe and a more subdued number, reminiscent of their 1987 debut Come On Pilgrim and tracks like Caribou, that has been dubbed Greens and Blues. Neither of the songs appeared on the track listing for their recently-announced untitled EP, which has prompted speculation about the fate of the new songs.

The band look to be in fine form with new bass player Kim Shattuck, formerly of punk rock outfit The Muffs, replacing the band’s iconic bassist Kim Deal, whose departure from the legendary group was announced back in June. The band are slated to embark on a European tour, which will include headlining the iTunes Festival.
