Fitzroy institution Bimbo Deluxe has been severely damaged by fire overnight.
As Herald Sun reports, 24 firefighters fought a blaze in the early hours of the morning after a 000 call was made at 1.20am. It apparently took them 20 minutes to control the fire.
The fire was in offices on the second floor but it’s also caused damage on the ground floor where the bar is.
There were no injuries caused by the fire as there was nobody inside the venue at the time of the blaze. Management are yet to confirm the extent of the damage or how it will effect their operations.
The Melbourne venue is now popular for $4 pizzas but back in the day it was an iconic music venue and has played host to some Aussie legends. The likes of Powderfinger, Spiderbait, You Am I and TISM graced the stage at, what was then known as, The Punters Club.
Police are still working to determine what was the cause of the blaze.
