UPDATE 22/10/2016: The Calling have postponed their Australian tour due to visa issues.
“Regrettably, due to unforeseen circumstances outside our control arising around Visas, The Calling will be postponing their Australian tour until 2017,” a statement reads.
“The band is incredibly disappointed they will not be visiting and thanks their fans this year following the positive reaction the tour has received, and aim to reschedule the shows for the first half of 2017.”
There are not dates locked in for 2017 just yet but all ticket holders will be given refunds.
ORIGINAL STORY: Allow us to transport you back in time, almost 16 years into the past. Society was still patting itself on the back for narrowly dodging a Y2K apocalypse, everyone was playing Snake on their Nokia 3210’s, your tamagotchi was probably dead because you forgot to clean up all of its shit again, Justin Bieber was barely a skidmark on the underpants of existence and a little band called The Calling had just cameo’d in Hollywood blockbuster Coyote Ugly and were about to unleash an earth-shattering rock n’ roll love ballad dubbed Wherever You Will Go upon the world.
A song so huge, that it would go on to dominate So Fresh CD compilations for the next two years (and if you were cool like me and got Total Rock instead of So Fresh then yup, it was on that too).
Australia, it’s taken us 16 years to prepare ourselves to witness this song performed live, but The Calling have finally decided that we are ready.
The (confusingly surnamed) Alex Band-fronted LA rockers have just announced that their debut full tour of mainland Australia will take place in November of 2016.
Presented by Unbreakable Touring, The Calling’s big Aussie tour will take in five stops across the Great Southern Land, including Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Fremantle.
The Wherever You Will Go hit wonders will also be joined by special guests, TBA, with special meet and greet packages available.
And even more exciting, they’ll be performing brand new and unheard material off their forthcoming album, which is due out in 2017.
Find out how you can go – wherever they will go – below.
