Slash Is Ready For A Guns N’ Roses Reunion

Giving the slightest glimmer of hope to fans worldwide, rocker icon Slash has indicated he’s open-minded about the possibility of a reunion of the Guns N’ Roses classic lineup, saying we should “never say never”.

“It’s been one of those things that’s been talked about by everybody but us for over the last 18, 19 years,” Slash told CBS’ This Morning.

He also played down purported tensions between himself and Axl Rose, admitting that while they “haven’t really talked in a long time”, most of the “tension” between them “has dissipated.”

“We don’t have all those issues anymore. It’s not a lot of controversy. It’s something that is more perpetuated by the media, more than anything.” When asked if he would personally like to see a classic Guns N’ Roses reunion, Slash was a bit some circumspect.

“I’ve got to be careful what I say there. I mean, if everybody wanted to do it and do it for the right reasons, I think the fans would love it. I think it might be fun at some point to try and do that.”

As to what those “right reasons” might be, Slash said, “I mean, that’s a hard one. That just starts to get into a whole complex thing…It’s really between the guys in the band.” He concluded with, “you know, never say never.”

Slash left Guns N’ Roses in 1996 and reports about a strained relationship between him and Rose have been circling ever since. When the gunners were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2012, Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and original drummer Steven Adler attended the ceremony, but Axl Rose and founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin didn’t.

At the time, Rose wrote that the decision was a “personal” one and added that calls for a classic Guns N Roses reunion “are misguided attempts to distract from our efforts with our current lineup”. So yeah, he might need a little more convincing.

Still, last year Guns N’ Roses did welcome former bassist Duff McKagan on board for dates on their South American tour.

In the meantime, Slash with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators are still touring their latest studio album, World on Fire.
