Stone Temple Pilots Drop ‘Meadow’, Their First Single With New Singer Jeff Gutt

Stone Temple Pilots have dropped their first single since announcing their new frontman Jeff Gutt.

Meadow is taken from their forthcoming seventh studio album which is due for release next year. It will be their first with Gutt on vocals and their first without former frontman Scott Weiland who died at the end of 2015.

Weiland had been MIA from the band for a number of years before his death and was replaced by Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington (RIP) who left in 2015 to focus on Linkin Park.

Gutt addressed Weiland in a statement about the new song (via CoS) saying, “No one will ever fill Scott’s shoes and I’m not trying to – he’s a legend.

“But these songs deserve to be performed and people want to hear them. I’m just honored that the guys chose me to help them continue to build this band’s legacy.”

Guitarist Dean DeLeo explained that they chose Gutt, a former US X Factor contestant, as the new frontman because they wanted someone, “who would not only do our earlier songs justice, but would also write new songs.”

The band debuted the new lineup at a show for US radio station SiriusXM, mixing the old songs with the new. You can see the setlist below and the full show will be available to see here from Saturday (in Australia).
