Tame Impala Offshoot Pond Share New Song ‘30000 MEGATONS’

Pond, the Aussie psych-rock band which features current (and former) Tame Impala members, has just released the brand new track 30000 MEGATONS, and it’s pretty freakin’ nice.

Pond, which features multi-instrumentalist Jay Watson (Tame Impala/GUM) and former Tame Impala bassist Nicholas Allbrook, have dropped the new song as a follow-up to their recent single Sweep Me Off My Feet, which was produced alongside Tame Impala frontman and former Pond member, Kevin Parker.

30000 MEGATONS, which kind of sounds like a psychedelic amalgamation of Bowie and The Beatles, is taken off a new album which is currently in the making and due for release in 2017. The upcoming record is a follow-up to last year’s Man It Feels Like Space Again.

30000 MEGATONS was intended to come out next year as part of the album release, but, as explained in a tweet by the band this morning, today “seems like the right time.” Lucky for us, ay?

Catch Pond playing Gizzfest next month alongside Stonefield, Mild High Club, Gum and many more.
