Tegan & Sara Cancel 2017 Australian Tour

Tegan & Sara have been forced to cancel their 2017 Australian tour due to illness.

Half of the Canadian duo Tegan Quin has been struck with illness on a European tour forcing them both to cancel with no plans of rescheduling at this stage.

The duo were due to play around the country including shows at Sydney’s Twilight At Taronga and Melbourne Zoo Twilights.

It’s the second time in less than a year that they were due to tour the country after they played last year’s Splendour In The Grass.

“It is with the heaviest heart that I type this,” Tegan wrote in a statement.

“I became very ill on the final days of our European tour in February, and even while taking antibiotics and steroids, I still lost my voice completely. After a second round of antibiotics and steroids upon returning home last week, I still have not recovered my voice or received a clean bill of health. At the recommendation of my GP, I have decided to postpone our Australian/New Zealand tour to continue my recovery and ensure I don’t do longer-term damage to my singing voice and health.”

She further said that in 17 years of touring she can count on two hands the amount of shows that they have had to cancel.

“I send our deep apologies to our fans, our team in Australia and New Zealand, as well as our promoters.”

Full refunds for the shows will be automatically processed for ticket holders.
