The Bronx Confirm They’re Working On A New Album Right Now

It’s been some years now since we’ve heard from The Bronx, but according to frontman Matt Caughthran, that’s all about to change.

Having been fairly snowed-in releasing and touring the world as their Mariachi counterpart Mariachi El Bronx, the band have decided it’s now time to hang up the little black jackets, replace them with some ripped denim vests and hit the studio as The Bronx.

Speaking with Music Feeds, Caughthran says, “We’re working on The Bronx V right now. We just started doing that so we’re not really going to lock in on it probably until November, that’s when we’re kind of slated to write the majority of the record, or finish writing it.”

With Mariachi El Bronx’s latest album III now well and truly toured internationally, the band feel it’s now time to pump up the distortion, crank the volume and rock the fuck out.

“Everyone right now just wants to get radical, plug in a guitar and just crank it,” Caughthran says.

“I’m ready to scream my face off and talk some shit to people so we’re going The Bronx V and I’m really looking forward to cranking it out.”

The Bronx V will be the first album from the band since 2013’s The Bronx IV, and by the sounds of things the band are keen AF to get some new heavy songs on the road. The album won’t mark the end of Mariachi El Bronx though, not by a long shot it seems.

“That’s the main priority right now as far as creating what’s next. But after that, I’m sure there’ll be some El Bronx stuff to come,” Caughthran says.

“We have a lot of cool stuff in the works, a lot of big stuff, stuff that’s going to take a lot of time and a lot of work – but that’s what we like to do, so we’re going to go for it.”

Matt Caughthran will be bringing Mariachi El Bronx back down under for a run of shows in support of Violent Soho later this year. They’ll also be making a stop off at the inaugural The Lost Lands festival before they kick on to Sydney for a one-off headline show.

Music Feeds‘ full chat with Matt Caughthran is coming soon.
