The Gaslight Anthem Are On Indefinite Hiatus

New Jersey rockers The Gaslight Anthem have announced that after eight years together as a band they are going on an indefinite hiatus.

The band took to their Facebook to announce that they would be “taking a break” after their European tour which wraps up in August.

“We’d like to recharge and take a step back until we have something we feel excited about rather than going right back to making a record just for the sake of making the next record,” they wrote.

“We all feel this is the best decision we can make and it feels like the right one for us.”

According to the post the band will still be active in the music world in some capacity, noting that they’re going to still be undertaking projects “in and out of music.”

The band are no strangers to side-projects either. In 2011, vocalist Brian Fallon and guitarist Ian Perkins came together as The Horrible Crowes and released one record, Elsie. On their hiatus Facebook post the most-liked comment is by a fan who says, “I’m fine as long as this results in another Horrible Crowes record…”

Last year Fallon also debuted two songs with his other side project Molly and The Zombies, however, he’s yet to release anything since.

The Gaslight Anthem’s last record was Get Hurt was released in August last year. They have released an album every two years since 2008 but it seems that won’t be the case with their sixth album, given this hiatus.

The band were in Australia earlier this year where they played a number of “by request” shows giving fans the chance to choose the setlist.
