The Jesus Lizard Cancel Australian Tour And ATP’s Release The Bats

Unfortunate news out of the All Tomorrow’s Parties camp this afternoon, with an announcement that The Jesus Lizard will no longer be making their way to Australia, cancelling their Australian and New Zealand tour which included an appearance at ATP’s Release The Bats festival in Victoria next month.

In a statement released this afternoon, ATP say, “The Jesus Lizard regret to announce they are no longer able to come to Australia/NZ for their October dates due to unforeseen circumstances. They hope to make it down to Australia in the near future… ATP apologise to fans who are disappointed.”

It is believed that an artist is being arranged to replace The Jesus Lizard on the Release The Bats lineup, and we’re assured that the rest of the acts scheduled to play will remain on the bill.

Another small sliver of info should brighten up the day of those heading to the festival – tickets are said to be being dispatched in just 10 days time. It also seems that there will be a bus service running from Melbourne CBD a la ATP’s last event, I’ll Be Your Mirror, though this time you’ll have to order your tickets online.

Release The Bats will be held at Altona’s Westgate Entertainment Centre and Grand Star Reception on Saturday, 26th October and will feature performances from The Breeders playing Last Splash, Television playing Marquee Moon, Fuck Buttons and more.
