UPDATE 17/12/15 5.50pm: Soundwave 2016 has been officially cancelled.
Like a music festival version of the riotous D-Grade horror classic The Blob, The Soundwave 2016 lineup is slowly and steadily growing in size, power and delicious pink goo until it will surely soon devour us all.
And today, helping it along, are newest additions Devil You Know.
The heavy AF supergroup – which combines the metal powers of former Killswitch Engage vocalist Howard Jones, machine drummer John Sankey (Devolved, Divine Heresy, Fear Factory), guitarist Francesco Artusato (All Shall Perish) and bassist Ryan Wombacher – are Soundwave alumni, having already graced the festival bill back in 2014.
The US metalcore trio are the eighth official act to be announced for next year’s festival, joining British rock juggernauts Bring Me The Horizon, Sydney metal champs Northlane, Swedish hardcore act Refused, Los Angeles alt-rockers Failure, Brisbane riffsters Dead Letter Circus, Welsh metal outfit Bullet For My Valentine and 2006 Eurovision winners, Lordi.
We’ve also been given a massive hint about the SW16 headliner, with festival boss AJ Maddah recently revealing that the monster act in question has never played the festival before, which really only leaves a handful of viable possibilities.
The Soundwave 2016 lineup, which already seems to be living up to Maddah’s pledge of being “heavier than usual”, will be more fully unveiled once early bird tickets are taken off sale, with a set of 22 bands to be announced.
