The Stone Roses Playing Future Music 2013?

After adamantly declaring that The Chili Peppers will be headlining Big Day Out 2013, triple j’s Nui Te Koha has once again peered into his crystal ball, picking out The Stone Roses as favourites for Future Music 2013.

Though for those of you who have been paying attention, it is just the latest in a number of Stone Roses-related tip offs. Big Day Out promoter Ken West in an interview earlier this year labelled the band as “earmarked for Future Music 2013” and the always vocal AJ Maddah tweeted he would have booked them had they not already been booked by another Australian touring company…hmmm…

The band themselves have confirmed that, in light of their recent first gig in almost 20 years, they will be embarking on an extensive worldwide tour. Having last visited Strailya’ in 1995, we are well overdue. What’s more, with the first of their comeback shows receiving thunderous applause not just from fans but from media who have confirmed that the band still in fact have their groove. And they know it with frontman Ian Brown telling the crowd “As you see, we’ve still got it,” according to The Guardian who wholeheartedly agreed with the statement.

Though nothing has been officially confirmed Nui is known as the festival go to guy with some rare hook-ups. Jeez, I really hope he’s right!
